About Us

Gachoire Girls High School is a county school in Lari Sub County, Kiambu County, The school has come along way since it was started in 1977, through self-help community effort as a single stream mixed High School with four classrooms, an office and two teachers’ houses. It is currently one of the largest in population girls boarding school in the county. Gachoire has continued to excel in academic performance in each exam year.

The idea to have a secondary school within Gachoire sub-location was conceived in the late 1950’s during land consolidation by a man who never attended any formal schools.

In 1974, the then area sub-chief late Samuel Wainaina Gichuhi invited a few people to a committee where he raised the agenda of building a high school as development for his area. The members agreed to sensitize the people and to check on all requirements such as registration, sponsorship, license and few units for teachers’ quarters.

Over the years, Gachoire Girls High School has been able to estabilish itself as an academic power house in Lari Sub County and Kiambu County as a whole.

It has grown from being a harambee secondary school to become one of the top 3 County Schools in Lari Sub County and among the best gilrs school in Kiambu County.

Recent Projects

Expansion of Dormitories

In order to ably house the increasing school population the management of the school embarked on an ambitious 5-story  dormitory project. This will be built in phases till completion.

School Solarization Project

In a bid to mitigate the ever rising electricity bills, the school partnered with Davis & Shertliff, who are market leaders in the solar industry to provide an alternative power source for the school.

CBC Government Project

As part of the Government’s prepartion plan to accommodate the new education system, the achool was ear marked and funded for the construction of CBC Government funded classes. 

Teachers Housing Project

Teachers are an integral part of the team and the overall success of the students. The school management therefore saw it fit to construct housing for them and now an additional 8 teachers are housed in the school compound.
